Is It A Mosquito?

Recently, I’ve had a lot of customers complaining about mosquitoes. While mosquitoes are not our forte, as they are a water insect, I’m usually able to reassure our clients, by explaining that what they are probably seeing are the crane fly. This flying insect has a very similar appearance to a large mosquito, but it is completely harmless to humans. The only issue it can cause is from its larvae eating your lawn, but even this is not common in Arizona.

Crane flies are extremely active at this time of the year, especially in Arizona, and can be seen flying around all over the outside of your home. Of course they can be a nuisance by flying into your house, but that is really the only thing you have to worry about. Keep your doors and windows shut!
